The Instrument Engineers at QualEx have the technical know-how and field experience to specify the instrumentation and design the controls logic inherent in the automated processes associated with the industries we serve. QualEx Engineers have kept pace with the rapid advances in the instrument and controls technology field due to their daily exposure and can offer practical designs to meet your project and operations objectives.
Early involvement by the Instrument Engineers, during the development of
the P&IDs, is crucial to making sure the proper instrumentation is
incorporated into the design and that the control logic is properly
shown so
that instrument loop diagrams, marshalling panel drawings, junction box
panel drawings, and instrument installation details may be accurately and
efficiently produced to facilitate the construction effort.
QualEx Instrument Engineers develop the specifications which will allow the instrumentation to be competitively bid or sole-sourced to our Client’s preferred vendors.
Additionally, the Instrument Engineers are responsible for: reviewing instrument vendor data submittals to insure technical compliance with the specifications; generating material takeoffs that may be used to estimate material and labor requirements for the project cost estimate; generation of purchase documentation; creation and maintenance of the instrument index / IO list; and participating in constructability reviews. This group may also be called upon to provide field assistance during the construction and startup efforts.
In addition to QualEx Standard Specifications, which were developed to aid in the design and provide guidance to suppliers and installers of the instrumentation related components, and vendor sizing software made readily available from manufacturers, the following software has been purchased and is available to aid in the solution and increase the efficiency of instrumentation and process controls related tasks:

- SmartPlant Instrumentation (formerly Intergraph InTools)
- InstruCalc
